Weekly Diary Theming Template

Theme each day of the week so the diary fights for the right work, not just any work.

When to use this

Group time by purpose: deep work, 1:1s, external, admin, planning. Apply the theme as a default; defend it on the calendar; move things across days rather than letting any day become anything.

The template

# Weekly Diary Theming — [Executive]

| | Morning theme | Afternoon theme | Notes |
|--------|---------------|------------------|-------|
| Mon | Deep work | 1:1s | No external |
| Tue | External | External | Day for partner meetings |
| Wed | 1:1s | Strategy | Leadership team day |
| Thu | External | Operations | |
| Fri | Catch-up | Planning next week | Protected 15:00 onwards |

## Theme definitions
- **Deep work** — uninterrupted, longest-block-possible, no calls
- **1:1s** — direct reports, mentees, coaching
- **External** — clients, partners, press, board
- **Strategy** — quarterly cycle work, planning, off-sites
- **Operations** — running the business — finance, HR, ops reviews
- **Catch-up** — inbox, signing things, short-fuse stuff
- **Planning** — looking at next week and next month deliberately

## Defending the theme
- A meeting that doesn't fit the theme moves to the next themed day (or next week)
- "Quick chats" go in a single Wednesday slot, not scattered
- Travel time is a meeting, not a gap
